Frequently asked questions about Outdoor Advertising
How much does a billboard cost in Spain?
The price of a billboard varies by city, area and duration. In large cities like Madrid or Barcelona, a premium 8x3m billboard can cost between €800 and €1,500 per fortnight. In medium-sized cities like Valencia, Seville or Bilbao, the typical range is €400-800/fortnight. In smaller cities, from €150-300/fortnight. Additional factors include lighting, daily traffic at the location and total campaign volume.
What is the minimum duration of an outdoor advertising campaign?
The standard minimum unit in outdoor advertising in Spain is the fortnight, that is, 14 days. Some digital formats (DOOH) allow shorter periods of one week. For large coverage campaigns with multiple formats, the most common periods are 15 or 30 days. Quarterly or half-yearly contracts typically include significant discounts of 15-30%.
How is outdoor advertising audience measured?
Outdoor advertising audience is measured primarily through OTS (Opportunity To See), which estimates the number of people who pass a format and have a chance to see it. Mobility data comes from EGM (General Media Study), vehicle and pedestrian traffic counts, and increasingly from mobile geolocation data. Each format has its own audience index based on location, size and visibility.
What outdoor advertising formats exist in Spain?
The main outdoor advertising formats in Spain are: billboards (8x3m and large formats), street posters (1.2x1.8m on street furniture), bus shelters, bus advertising (side and rear), metro (platforms, concourses and escalators), building wraps, advertising columns, scrolling poster panels and DOOH (digital out-of-home) screens. Airports and shopping centres have special large-format options.
Can outdoor advertising be contracted in just one city?
Yes, absolutely. Geographic segmentation is one of the great advantages of outdoor advertising. You can book a local campaign in a single city, in specific neighbourhoods, or even on a particular street or commercial area. MediaPulse plans both local (single city), regional (multiple cities in a region) and national campaigns. There is no minimum number of cities.
What permits are required for outdoor advertising?
Outdoor advertising formats are subject to municipal licences and local ordinances regulating installation, size and lighting. At MediaPulse we handle all permit management for formats in our inventory. For building wraps or special temporary installations, we manage the necessary construction permits or municipal authorisations. Advertisers don't need to worry about the paperwork.
